SWS Gigabit connections
SWS Broadband will soon be able to offer Gigabit capable connections to selected communities within our existing coverage area.
Connections will be funded by RGC (Rural Gigabit Connection) vouchers issued by DCMS (Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport). We do the application for you so there's no paperwork to worry about.
We’ll be contacting existing customers when we’re ready to uplift your community to Gigabit connectivity.
What does this mean?
SWS Broadband is committed to providing Gigabit capable connections to as many customers as possible. Gigabit capable means that we install the equipment to enable us to deliver up to 1Gb to you but it doesn’t mean you have to pay for a Gigabit service if you only need 30Mbps or 100Mbps – we’ll deliver the speed you need when you need it and, as always, you can upgrade your SWS Broadband connection at any time.
DCMS RGC Voucher Process
Step 1 – Register your interest
We have identified communities where we can deliver SWS Gigabit connections – let us know if you’re interested and we’ll contact you as soon as we’ve registered the project for your community with DCMS and we’re ready to apply for your voucher.
Complete our Contact us form to register your interest.
Existing SWS Broadband customer?
Help us get ahead of the game by registering your interest in a SWS Gigabit connection now – we’ll contact you as soon as the project for your community is registered and we’re ready to apply for your voucher.
Once we have sufficient interest registered for your community we’ll launch the project and apply for vouchers for all interested parties and start work to deliver an SWS Gigabit connection to you.
You will receive and email from DCMS asking you to confirm that you have authorised SWS to apply for a Rural Gigabit Connection voucher.
How do you deliver the service?
We install Active Fibre Poles within your community, from these poles we run a fibre cable to each property requiring an SWS Gigabit connection. The fibre cable comes into your property where it connects to a power supply and your router.
What if you can’t deliver 1Gb to me?
You won’t miss out on faster speeds – we’re already in the process of carrying out an uplift of the entire SWS Broadband network and will be able to offer SWS Ultrafast FWA (fixed wireless access) connections (up to 100Mbps) to properties within much of our current coverage area within the next 12 months. We’ll be in touch with existing customers as soon as an Ultrafast connection is available but please register your interest with us if you’re not an existing customer.
